On to Huatulco (Oaxaca)
Okay, I'm continuing to predict the future for Jan. Tuesday morning she (and the ship and the other passengers) will be tying up for the day at Huatulco.

You're wondering about her weather, I bet: Huatulco's Tuesday will be sunny/cloudy/HUMID, with a high of 89 ("real feel" of 96).

(A note has arrived from Senora Jan: We're having an outstanding time; yesterday went through the Panama Canal. Hot & muggy, rained a bit. Had champagne, strawberries dipped in chocolate & pastries. Saw 2 very large alligators on the banks. Heard that Ken is having the time of his life. So happy for him. I'm having the time of MINE, too! I'm off to a cooking class with Lori now. Mom is great, a wonderful roommate & we are all thoroughly enjoying each other. )

Jan sails north again

But Tuesday morning she and the ship and the other passengers will dock at Puerto Chiapas for the day. This is the first of several stops as they continue up the Mexican coast. Wonder if they'll be serving lots of tacos, enchiladas and quesadillas on board along the way. Sounds pretty good right now.

When we left Jan, she was in Cartagena, Columbia. She's covered a lot of water since then. She passed all the way thru the Panama Canal this time and spent a few hours Saturday afternoon in Golfo Dulce (Sweet Gulf), Costa Rica:

Today (Sunday) the whole day has been spent at Puerto Puntarenas, Costa Rica. I don't know what sort of shore excursions Jan might be taking. I could make some up, but that would be cheating.

Bwana Ken at Mombo
Ken moved to the Little Mombo Camp this past Friday. He's still in Botswana, and I'm thinking he's not moved far from his previous stop. He'll be staying at Mombo Camp until Thursday, May 3. Take a look at this link; what an incredible adventure!

Ken's staying at "Little" Mombo Camp where there are just 3 "tents". I downloaded a couple of the site's videos; they're not great and there's no sound, but it gives us vicarious travelers a taste of what Ken is experiencing. Talk about living amidst the animals!! I hope he took a boxload of flashcards for his camera.
Ken's stays appear to be in the vicinity of the Okavango Delta, the world's largest inland delta covering an area the size of Massachusetts!! Each year, in March and April, the delta is flooded by the Okavango River which races in with all the rain of the season. Wild game is drawn to the water on the delta which makes for incredible viewing. (Coincidentally, I first learned of the Okavango Delta just a couple weeks ago when I was watching an episode of "Planet Earth.")
Weatherwise, it continues to be sun, sun, sun, ranging from the high 50s to the mid 80s.

Ken's home for 3 nights
Ken will be staying at this "camp" thru Thursday night. What an experience: exquisite tent accommodations; game drives 2x daily; gourmet meals.

Ken's on the move!
Yesterday (Monday) Ken said "goodbye" to Cape Town and flew to Maun, Botswana, via Johannesburg. On my map, Maun is just an itsy-bitsy dot in northern Botswana, and you can see where Ken spent Monday night (in a tent, but what a tent!) by clicking on the link below. He's having great weather, high 50s evenings/night, mid 80s and sunny days. Sweet.

Jan's still on open sea
Look at me! I've built a blog.....I think.
But to our adventurers: Jan's been on the open seas for the last couple days and arrives in Cartagena, Columbia, tomorrow. Humid and rainy, 83 degrees with a "real feel" temp of 88 degrees. She'll spend the day visiting the city, I'm sure.
Now I'm off to figure out how to get a link to Cartagena inserted here.
